Skuza to test drive for Mike Ashley in‘07

(Broadview Heights, Ohio) Dean Skuza found himself behind the wheel again at the Winter warmups in Phoenix where he did some test driving for Mike Ashley’s Torco Race Fuels team. Because of Ashley’s hectic schedule, Skuza is slated to test drive for the team following select events throughout the ‘07 season.

Dean last drove at the Winternationals in 2003. The Skuza team was gearing up for an ‘07 return, but the inability to secure sufficient sponsorship funds and an eleventh hour pull out of their potential primary left the team with no choice but to remain parked.

“It was heartbreaking not being able to campaign our car this year when we were so close to putting together such a dynamic marketing package,” said Dean Skuza. “It’s back to the drawing board, but we have our noses to the grindstone and continue to design marketing packages for potential primary sponsors.”

But for now, Skuza is delighted to be driving again, even as a test pilot.

“Mike is such a great guy and he’s put together such a great team,” stated Dean. “The crew is top notch, they have a great sponsor in Evan Knoll’s companies, everything is hi-line.” Skuza chuckles and adds, “It makes you wonder what they were thinking when they hired me.”
